• The Americans with Disabilities Act: A Primer for Small Business
  “Small businesses are an ever-increasing source of jobs, many of which can be filled by individuals with disabilities who are able and want to work. The approximately 25 million small businesses in the nation represent 99.7 percent of all employers, employ more than 50 percent of the private work force, and generate more than half of the nation's gross domestic product. Small businesses also provide 67 percent of all first jobs. President Bush's New Freedom Initiative seeks to partner with small businesses to increase the percentage of individuals with disabilities in the workplace.”


• Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers (DBTACs)
  “The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) has established ten regional centers to provide information, training, and technical assistance to employers, people with disabilities, and other entities with responsibilities under the ADA. The centers act as a "one-stop" central, comprehensive resource on ADA issues in employment, public services, public accommodations, and communications. Each center works closely with local business, disability, governmental, rehabilitation, and other professional networks to provide ADA information and assistance, placing special emphasis on meeting the needs of small businesses.”


• Employer Assistance Referral Network (EARN)
  “EARN connects employers who have job vacancies to employment service providers who have direct access to job ready individuals with disabilities. EARN also provides technical assistance to assist employers in locating appropriate organizations and information as they seek to hire qualified candidates with disabilities.”


• GSA's Center for IT Accommodation (CITA)
  “GSA's Center for IT Accommodation (CITA) is the Government's principal advocate and coordinator for making information technology accessible for people with disabilities. Our mission is to be the recognized government wide policy resource for information on the accessibility of electronic and information technology, and in the use of assistive technologies. We employ a staff of Program Managers who facilitate ongoing projects in support of section 508.”


• Job Accommodation Network (JAN)
  “The Job Accommodation Network is a service of the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) of the U.S. Department of Labor. JAN is one of several ODEP projects. JAN's mission is to facilitate the employment and retention of workers with disabilities by providing employers, employment providers, people with disabilities, their family members and other interested parties with information on job accommodations, self-employment and small business opportunities and related subjects.”
