OverviewThe purpose of the Technology for Independence: Community-Based Resource Center (TI-CBRC) is to facilitate the development of real-world, scientifically rigorous knowledge and research on assistive technology and environmental access for persons with disabilities in partnership with disability researchers, disability advocates, community-based organizations, and other disability community members. Among other activities, the CBRC:
A blue-ribbon panel of research consultants, many with disabilities, assists in shaping the project's direction, research agenda, curricula materials, and technical assistance. The project is one of four Technology for Independence projects funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. The CBRC is a five-year project funded 100% by NIDRR grant H133A021801. The project is a partnership of the Law, Health Policy & Disability Center at the University of Iowa, College of Law, and the Independent Living Research Utilization at the Institute for Rehabilitation & Research. |
